SKODA PRAHA 3D POWER PLANT
What is it about?
The “SKODA PRAHA 3D POWER PLANT” application makes it possible to view power plant in a 3D reality. Via demonstrative 3D models explore the most significant technological equipment, including its design, basic principles, parameters and multimedia accessories. The application is intended primarily for secondary school students, but curious primary school pupils can also find interesting information there and the content is attractive for the broad public as well.

The technology of coal-fired power plants is presented on a model of a modern New Source of the Ledvice Power Plant. In the introductory section, you can familiarise yourselves with the layout of the entire power plant, by selecting highlighted objects you get deeper and deeper via equipment complexes up to individual pieces of equipment that comprise key nodes in the technological connection of the power plant. This information level contains a detailed 3D model of selected equipment and a multitude of supplementary information. In addition to a design aspect and visualisation of the functionality of equipment, it includes information concerning theoretical bases, particular installation of equipment, galleries and interviews with operating staff or an opportunity to try solving practical tasks and interactive problems.
All the 3D models of complexes and equipment are drawn in real time, rotation and zooming of objects are controlled by the user. The option to filter the display of individual parts of equipment contributes to clarity and a better understanding of the functionality.
More detailed information is divided at the end model of a facility into several groups (information windows):
Theory – comprises a short description of the history, design variants and modes of utilisation of energy equipment, its roles in the technological complex of the power plant. Practical types of equipment are given based on various criteria, materials used for production or the distinctiveness of power installations.
Physical principles – the information window acquaints users with the facility in terms of the use of basic physical principles and processes. The physical principles also include basic formulae characterising the process concerned.
Parameters – an information window with a clearly arranged list of all main parameters of the facility. A clearly arranged table contains descriptions and units of parameters, their general range and particular values for the power source described.
Photo Gallery – a gallery of selected photographs of the plant in various views and sections that graphically represent the actual appearance of the facility, its size, shape and place (for instance, in the machine plant or turbine hall). Unique documentary images from construction are incorporated in the photo galleries as well.
Video from practice – practical commentary and familiarisation with the equipment directly at the place of installation in the power plant.
Task – mathematical and physical tasks are prepared for users who got interested in the issues; to solve them successfully they need knowledge gained in the theoretical part of the description of an individual facility.
Tests – trial tests are the final component of the detailed description of each end model, in which users can check what they have learnt about the facility.
