LOAD WIDTH (or length) is the distance between the load's shackle (connection) points or load edges. MULTIPLIER is the number located at the bottom of each degree angle column, and is used in the formula according to which angle (60, 90, 120) the slings form when installed.

To calculate the SWL of a sling needed to lift a load, divide the load by the angle factor and divide by the reeve factor. For example: Two slings have a 60° angle between them and are both reeved around a 4 tonne square load. This means a factor of 1.73 for the angle and 0.5 for the reeve.

Sling Angle is the angle measured between the horizontal plane and the sling leg or body. ... The angle is very important and can have a dramatic effect on the rated capacity of the sling, due to the increase of tension caused by the angle.

This calculator is used when the distance between the only 2 rigging attachment points on the load, the amount of room available or desired between the load and lifting device, and the weight of the load are measurable/selected values.
