SmartDeer

What is it about?

SmartDeer is a smartphone application developed for stakeholders to help conduct systematic surveys of deer while outdoors or at home. Our app will collect deer presence and deer density data, culling returns and, random sightings, among others. This is an efficient way to guarantee that deer data are collected throughout Ireland into the future. This project is led by the SmartDeer team working out of UCD Ireland and is funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. SmartDeer project has been developed to work with stakeholders, for stakeholders. We are leading the first nationally-coordinated initiative for deer monitoring in Ireland by collecting and analyzing empirical data across the country that will help managers to make evidence-based decisions.
