Solar Planner

App to calculate the solar production. The app calculates the reduced solar earnings compared to an optimal panel position. Two factors reduce the real solar earnings:
1. The direction and the tilt angle of the solar panel.
2. The shadowing due to buildings or trees.

The yellow area in the picture shows the possible positions of the sun during the year. The brown area represents the ground to the horizon. Using augmented reality the shadowing is drawn directly on the screen by repainting the buildings or trees.

The direction and the tilt angle of the solar panel are set by using the direction and tilt angle of the iPhone/iPad. Either by holding the iPhone/iPad in the direction of the sun. Or by laying the iPhone/iPad on the solar panel. (The tilt angle can be 90° at maximum.)

The result of the calculation shows the solar earnings compared to the highest possible solar earning in percent.
The solar earnings are also shown in a year diagram and a day diagram.

The Calculations can be used for photovoltaic and solar heating systems.

Used methodology:
For every time during the year the position of the sun at the sky depending on the geographic location is calculated. The solarisation on the panel is calculated by taking into account the panel direction and the panel tilt angle. The solarization is summed up for all times without shadowing. The calculated solar earning of the calculated panel position is shown compared to the maximal possible solar earning in percent.
