Sonar: Music & Community

Sonar is a social, gamified experience for discovering new music on Apple Music. Share your favourite underrated, underheard music and swipe through those shared by others.

We are creating Sonar with two feelings in mind. The first is the awe-inspiring feeling you get when you hear a song you love for the first time. The second is the pure connection with another person over a shared love for a particular piece of music.

Welcome to Sonar Version 1. We are just at the beginning, and we hope to continue this exploration with you. We value your feedback as we together build out the music app of our dreams.

As a part of Version 1, you can:
- Create an account and establish your profile with a display picture, bio, and social links.
- Select songs to share with the world. We encourage you to select music that you feel is underrated or underheard.
- Swipe through a randomized feed of the songs shared by other users.
- Filter your feed by a particular genre and the user demographic (age and gender) by which you receive songs.
- Add songs directly to your Apple Music library. Hear a song you like? Swipe right to add it to your Sonar Playlist right in Apple Music.
- Follow your favourite users. You are going to find those people with similar taste in music. Follow them and never miss when they share your next favourite track!
- Track who has the best music by visiting the Sonar Leaderboards. The leaderboards show the weekly and all-time users rated by how many times people have added their songs to their Sonar Playlist. The same goes for the weekly and all-time songs.

Sonar currently uses Apple Music to fetch and play songs. Without Apple Music, you can still select songs to your profile, climb the leaderboards, follow other users, and more.
