Spothole App is a crowdfunded App by the Fill in the Potholes Project.

It encourages you to be better citizens by reporting and tracking potholes across your city in three simple steps - Spot, Click and Report, which in turn enables the respective authorities to take action and fill in the potholes, thus
making the roads safe for everyone.

All roads lead to potholes. To fill them we have to mark them first. What if citizens are given the responsibility and power to report and track potholes spread across their respective city?

This thought led to an idea - Spothole App (working title: Pothole Watch), a mobile App to empower and help citizens use their smartphones to report the GPS location of a pothole and submit the photo along with it which in turn helps the local authorities identify the problem areas and address them.

Spothole App uses three basic features already available in a smartphone - mobile camera, GPS and internet connection and thus enables citizens accomplish half the job by distributing power and much needed responsibility to a crowdsourced model.

It will help the authorities to speed up the process of filling up potholes, averting traffic, accidents and a plethora of problems that arrive with this craters. Spothole App will also help local bodies keep a track of how frequent the potholes resurfaces.

Spothole App is currently a pilot project in Mumbai. It began as 'The Fill in the Potholes project' initially - a humorous take on the sorry state of roads in Mumbai by filling them with stories.
