sqsl Nashville is a MIDI controller/tool for exploring harmonies, modes, and chord progressions within heptatonic scales.
Scale Definition:
• Choose from ten scale patterns (5 "normal" + 5 alternative)
• Select one of seven modes (pattern rotation)
• Set the root note
Chord Shape/Voicing:
• Six editable chord shapes
• Voicing defined by degree intervals (not semitones intervals), with the option to shift voices one octave up or down
Play and Loop:
• Performance pads spanning four octaves
• Looper for recording and replaying pad interactions
Note: The looper records only pad/keyboard's white keys interactions, scale settings and chord voicing are excluded, allowing users to create simple progressions and modify scales or chord shapes on the fly.
Additional Features:
• Adjustable loop playback rate
• Automatic loop evolution (per loop cycle)
• Ability to target multiple MIDI channels (in rotating or random order)
• Optional velocity randomization
• Optional note start/end delay (0–1s)
Other Notes:
• Can be used with an external MIDI keyboard to map white keys to the selected scale and to select the mode or scale pattern directly from the keyboard
• Settings and loops are saved automatically
• App runs in the background
• No preset system
• Only standalone (no AUv3 support)
• Does not produce any sound its own
