Swarming Lounge is a participative, body-based, mixed-reality installation-performance grounded on an intelligent virtual environment: an interactive composition system in which visitors and dancer/performers interact with virtual characters displayed on the audience’s smart-phones. This application allows visitors to the "Swarming Lounge" installation to access its virtually augmented dimension, enabling them to display anthropomorphic characters evolving in a virtual scenario on their own mobile devices. Once equipped with the app, the user is able to access and interact with the sequence of the scenario’s events, designed in connection with the exhibition venue, where live dancer-performers are posted. In an intertwining of real and virtual situations, as well as in an inter-mixing of the two, visitors experience multiple shifting degrees of presences and micro-narratives.
