App Store Description

Swipr! Is an app designed to read the magnetic stripe information from the Infinite Peripherals accessory and transmit it to a web application through a web-view. All of the logic with what to do with said information is handled by a web application. The web application is not provided and must be developed by the user.

The app user creates a profile which defines a “Profile Name” which is displayed at the top of the web-view; a “Homepage URL” which is the initial web-view shown when the app starts or refreshes; a “Request URL” which handles the information and displays results when a card is swiped; and additional details such as an optional device identifier and request format (HTTP Query).

The purpose of the app is to read ID's from the magnetic stripe on the Iowa State University ID card. Again, the information is simply transmitted to a web application through a web-view in the app where all of the data processing is done.

The app is generic and could be used by anyone to connect to their own web interface.

No processing is done by the app and no card information is kept or cached within the app. Ergo there is no download of captured information from the app.

The app user can also set passwords and lock the app so that the iPad/iPod can be given to another to use the app without making modifications.

Finally, the app CANNOT be used to process credit card information. This app does not meet PCI compliance standards and security concerns in regards to processing credit cards. The app prohibits the transmission of credit card information by checking for a credit card number pattern (16 digit number with a Luhn checksum) and will not transmit any data.
