App Store Description

Symbolsend is a messaging app created specifically for non-verbal children and adults along with their families, allowing remote communication using visual symbols instead of written text. Representing a breakthrough solution for people with Autism Spectrum Condition, speech delay or for those who are deaf /hearing impaired, Symbolsend allows fuller, more meaningful communications.

While visual symbols are used the world over by speech and language professionals to assist communication in people who are non verbal, we believe that we’re the first company to provide an app based solution to the challenges of communication faced by non-verbal children and adults. Symbolsend is suitable for use by families and in educational settings as well as for medical and healthcare professionals.

Each app user can use visual symbols in sequence to create a phrase or sentence which can then be sent in ‘message’ format to another user of the app. If the user is neurotypical the app will translate these symbols into a text format which is then received within the app and can be read like any other text message. This user then replies to these messages in text and their message is translated into visual symbols for the non-verbal user. The app can also allow for users to send messages in visual symbols to other visual symbol users.

Symbolsend uses the same symbol set that is used by the British education system and by NHS professionals. This ensures consistency and ease of use for anyone messaging via our app.
