In 2015, the owner, Asad Sheikh (Bombay native) decided to focus on only opening bigger units with a seating capacity of 100 and up, to meet the growing demand in Northern Virginia. Curry Mantra 2 & 3 were closed because of its smaller seating capacity of only 45 not to mention, a smaller kitchen. Keeping up with guest reservation was incredibly difficult. As promised to Northern Virginia, The London Curry House opened in 2015 Alexandria, VA with its seating capacity of 150 Curry Mantra and London Curry House quickly became a favorite of one of America’s Top food critic – Tom Sietsema (Washington Post) and has garnered the coveted Zagat rating each year.
Curry Mantra was also pointed out in “Northern Virginia Magazine 50 Best Restaurants” 4 years in a row by Stefanie Gans and was awarded “The Best of Fairfax” and “Superb Indian Restaurant” by Washingtonian Magazine. In 2015 and 2016, The London Curry House also made it in “100 BEST CHEAP EATS” award by Washingtonian Magazine. The Bombay native founder, Asad Sheikh, with his burgeoning empire has grown quickly because of its reputation for great food, outstanding service, and its raving recommendations by customers and food critics alike. By varying the theme and specialties unique to each restaurant, guests who visit Curry Mantra and London Curry House can experience an authentic taste of Indian cultures and specialty dishes in a sort of “Passport to India.”
