The Freedom 13

The Freedom 13 App: Remembering the Heroes. Supporting our Veterans.

Built in honor of Marine Jared Schmitz and the 12 fellow American Heroes lost in Kabul, The Freedom 13 is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with a simple but enormous mission: To build 50 veteran camps across the nation—providing free retreats, support services, and healing spaces for military families and those who served.


With our all-in-one freedom app, you can now easily:

Each veterans' retreat location features 13 homes, 50% of which are ADA-accessible, and offers recreational opportunities such as fishing, kayaking, hiking, UTV trails, and more. We also partner with other organizations to provide job placement, service dog support, and mental health counseling.


Together, we’re building places of peace, purpose, and renewal—supporting our nation’s heroes and their families with dignity and care.
