Long-term illnesses, accidents, and surgery recoveries can be a stressful and emotional time for everyone, and it can be easy to lose track of what everyone is doing to help. Too often, the burden can fall on a single individual. The Hero Project helps friends and family see exactly who is stepping up to help, facilitates team member encouragement, and tracks contribution time and expense in simple summaries.

How It Works

Do something for your Hero and share it with the group.

Anyone can try out Hero Project for free with a single-use subscription.
Just download the app, create a project, and start entering your care activities. Project Leaders can add team members, where everyone enters activities on a shared Event Board and provides encouragement through emoji responses.

Summaries
During difficult situations, family and friends can contribute substantially toward caring for a loved one, but it’s hard to know exactly how much effort has been put in over time. With Hero Project, team members can optionally enter time and expense for care activities, then see simple summaries. The Project Leader can view summaries for all team members, and anyone can access the entire team summary for $2.99.

Event Customization
Entering caregiving events is super simple — just select a category from a dropdown (for example, Visit, Ride, Meal, Give, Pay Bill, etc.). Hero Project events are also easily customizable. The Project Leader can enter custom event types and subtypes, and team members can suggest new events to add that are specific to the Hero and family.

Building Connections
Hero Project facilitates communication among caregivers through the “Let’s Connect” feature. Anytime a new event appears on the Event Board, a team member can ask to connect about it, and then interested caregivers are linked through text chat.
For example, if you visit your Hero or take them to a medical appointment, and your sister wants to know how it went, she just clicks “Let’s Connect” and the chat takes it from there.

Inspirational Messaging
When a loved one is experiencing a health issue, it can be easy to feel discouraged. A simple word of encouragement at the right time can go a long way. The Hero Project sends inspirational quotes (faith-based or non-religious) every few days to let caregivers know they are not alone and that they are exemplifying the power of love and community support by working together for their Hero.

Switching Roles
For many of us, our parents are our Heroes. They have selflessly demonstrated strength, courage, and patience for decades, and we would do anything for them given the opportunity. As our Hero gets older, the caregiving roles are switched, but the power of the Hero remains to inspire us. The Hero Project brings everyone together to harness that power and strength toward acts of care and kindness.
