The Shop - Homewood

The Shop-Homewood is a coworking and gathering place for creatives, entrepreneurs, artists, makers, and anyone else building something with their best talents. Instead of a membership fee we ask for volunteer hours back to the community.

The Shop-Homewood is a new way of exploring how offering space, without cash fees, can activate thousands of hours of talent back into the community, while offering a no cost bridge into exploring the role that technology can play in your day-to-day life. We are anchored by master barber instructor Nate Mitchell’s second location of the Natural Choice Barbershop and Natural Hair Salon, the art studio of renowned painter Ashley Cecil, and the Innovation Lab of the Homewood Children’s Village.

We offer all of the essentials- chairs, tables, whiteboards, private phone booths for calls, noise cancelling headsets, printer/copier, conference and training meeting space, free coffee and blazing fast wifi thanks to Comcast. We also have tablets and a camera you can borrow during working hours in exchange for just a few more hours back to the community- it’s part of the “bring only your talent” model where anyone can show up and work. Each week we’ll work hard to take feedback and adjust the space to support the community and build an inclusive entrepreneurship space we can all be proud of.

The Shop has already hosted thousands of entrepreneurs working with their hands and hearts to make Pittsburgh a city for all and build world-changing ideas, companies, services. We welcome all types of entrepreneurs into join our coworking community whether you are painter looking to sketch, contractor looking to file receipts, designer/developer building websites, organizer holding a meeting, or chef planning a menu. We recognize that each of these skills, not just technologies, need space to work, think, and create something special.
