App Store Description
The Open Art Directory is an app for discovering and learning about public art. Primarily conceived to showcase public art in Vancouver, toad has expanded to include art from nine North American cities.
The app features lists of art that are organized by city and filterable by user-generated tags. The map displays the location of filtered and unfiltered art, with driving and walking directions available for each art location. Areas with a higher density of art on the map can be viewed as separate lists by tapping on a cluster.
toad contains images for many pieces of art, and users are encouraged to submit a photo through the app for art without an image. Most of the photos in this app are taken by members of the flickr community or cities with open data catalogues. Links and credits for the original photos are always included.
At a glance, toad includes:
- more than 1000 art titles and locations in nine cities
- more than 500 images
- nearly 800 web links to additional information about individual pieces
- art details such as artist, description, medium and installation date
The information available for each piece of art varies, depending on the data provided by each city.
