App Store Description

ICAO defines an Airprox as 'A situation in which, in the opinion of a pilot or a controller, the distance between aircraft, as well as their relative positions and speed, was such that the safety of the aircraft involved was, or may have been, compromised.

The UK Airprox Board (UKAB) is the UK's focal point for investigating and reporting the circumstances, causes and risk of collision for all Airprox occurrences in UK airspace. Focused purely on enhancing Air Safety through the avoidance of airborne conflict and mid-air collisions, the UKAB assesses the cause and risk of all incidents in UK airspace and provides feedback and follow-up of Airprox-related insights and recommendations about the efficacy of airspace and the factors that have influenced the performance of pilots and controllers. Emphasising both the scope of its work and its independence, UKAB is sponsored jointly, and funded equally, by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the UK Military Aviation Authority (MAA).

This App allows pilots an easy and convenient portal for reporting Airprox to the UKAB. Images, data-log files and videos can be uploaded with the report and then submitted to the UKAB by email. The sender will also receive a copy of the email to their nominated email address. Only the UKAB staff receive the report email, thus preserving the confidentiality of the reporter and the independence of the UKAB.

Users can also use the App to view previous incidents via a map interface, which they can filter by date, severity and other factors. Associated reports can be downloaded and viewed as pdfs by touching individual displayed map icons. Alternatively, individual Airprox reports can be searched for and downloaded by Airprox number.

The App also offers news from UKAB about Airprox-related activities and reports, and access to general articles, videos and topics of interest about mid-air collision avoidance and advice.

Members of the Airprox Board also have a password-protected area for Board business. This area is not accessible to non-Board members.
