This fully offline app (with online preview) features a blisteringly fast route planner and re-planner. In the event of a wrong turn, a new route will be calculated and displayed within seconds.

When planning a route, secondary roads are preferred when outside of cities. Inside cities the route planner switches to preferring highways and trunk roads.

GPX trails recommended by other riders can be downloaded from the Internet and matched to the road network, embedding local knowledge in the planned route. The downloaded route can then be cropped so that only the parts relevant to the overall journey are followed. The app will then route from the current location to the start of the trail, and from the end of the trail to the final destination. Multiple GPX routes can be added to one journey, combining the best bits from each for the ultimate ride.

Turn by turn instructions are provided, informing you of distance remaining until the next turn. "Continue straight" turns are suppressed. At a crossroads if there is no explicit turn, continue straight ahead.

The app features a free online route planner, allowing a preview of the routes that will be generated. Turn-by-turn instructions, map following, route re-planning and map matching, require a purchase and download of the offline maps for the required regions. Once any desired maps and GPX trails have been downloaded, the whole app works without an Internet connection.

If the aim is to get from A to B as quickly as possible, there are already alternative route planners available. The aim of Ultimate Rides is to find exciting backroad journeys, and integrate the most exciting routes available on the Internet.

This app uses GPS tracking. It will continue to track your location even with the app in background, for example if someone calls you. Prolonged use of GPS can significantly impact battery life. We recommend you fit a charger to your motorcycle.
