What is it about?
At first glance, the game doesn’t look like much more than a quick action arcade sports game. There’s a surprising level of replayability thanks to the eight different events, and the ability to upgrade your athlete. You can improve throwing power, throwing accuracy, and cycling speed to help you toss items that much better to improve your overall score. Whether you’re in career mode or practice mode, you always have a target line to shoot for as well as your career high. The game has a great “one more time” attribute as you always think you can do better, or at least try something different. The game pushes you to experiment because the best angle, speed, and timing vary depending on which event you’re playing.
Why we love it
Part of the fun of the game is getting used to handling the unicycle. You will fail multiple times, and you can’t help but laugh at smashing the hammer into the 1 yard line, or tossing the shot put straight up into the air until it lands back down on your athlete. The game event lets you crash your unicycle before even tossing anything, for added amusement. There are also commentators with some humorous dialogue depending on how good or bad you do on an individual toss. There’s just so much to enjoy as the game really nails the high score chasing ideal of the genre.
