What is it about?

No vacuum device or system can ever be absolutely vacuum-tight and it does not actually need to be. The simple essential is that the leak rate must be low enough that the required operating pressure, gas balance and ultimate pressure in the vacuum container are not influenced. It follows that the requirements in regard to the gas- tightness of an apparatus are "the more stringent the lower the required pressure level is".

App Store Description

No vacuum device or system can ever be absolutely vacuum-tight and it does not actually need to be. The simple essential is that the leak rate must be low enough that the required operating pressure, gas balance and ultimate pressure in the vacuum container are not influenced. It follows that the requirements in regard to the gas- tightness of an apparatus are "the more stringent the lower the required pressure level is".

In spite of careful inspection of the individual engineering components, leaks may be present in an apparatus following its assembly – be it due to poorly seated seals or damaged sealing surfaces. The processes used to examine an apparatus depend on the size of the leaks and on the desired degree of tightness as well as on whether the apparatus is made of metal, glass or other materials.

This app provides the permissible vacuum drop to get the desired air tightness based on vacuum pumps capability and system volume which pump has to extract resulting from air leak in the system.

METHODOLOGY USED :

L (Leak Rate) = V(dp/dt)
V = Volume of the system in litres.
Pump Capacity in cubic meter per hour (m^3/h)
Operating Vacuum (Ultimate) in Torr
dp = Change in pressure in Torr/mbar.
dt = Change in time in seconds.
Unit of leak rate is Torr (or) mbar Liters/sec
Allowable Vacuum Drop in Torr/30min
