Student loan debt represents a $1.6 trillion problem that cripples college graduates’ability to purchase homes, start businesses, or make the quality of life career decisions. The founders of Village Pledge have decided to tackle this problem. The Village Pledge App provides a convenient method for graduates, beneficiaries and supporters of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to financially support graduates of these incredible institutions of higher learning that have historically been underfunded. Village Pledge is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization created to eliminate tuition student-loan debt for graduates of HBCUs and affiliated trade schools. Donations
“pledged” on the app will be used to create an endowment fund to support HBCUs and HBCU graduates. Members of the “Village” can use the app to take the “Pledge” and give a one-time donation, monthly donation, and/or round-up donation. The app will provide members with total transparency into and control over their accounts. Members can see their donation amounts and method, and members can change their donation options at any time.
