VIRTUAL LAB BY THE BMW GROUP JUNIOR CAMPUS

The VIRTUAL LAB BY THE BMW GROUP JUNIOR CAMPUS is an edutainment app designed specifically for use in schools by Key Stage 3 students and their teachers but is appropriate for all pupils from 10 to 15 years old. It has been developed by the BMW Group in cooperation with experienced educators and Thinktank, Birmingham’s award-winning science museum. The Virtual Lab consists of two theme paths: Sustainability and Design. Each of the theme paths can be completed in around fifty minutes. The pupils can work on the individual topics either in teams or by themselves. A learning package with ideas on how to explore the subjects in more depth is available for download. Teachers can decide whether to concentrate on one or more topics during the lesson. Both theme paths are closely connected to the curriculum. The pupils enter a fascinating virtual world which encourages curiosity and imagination while at the same time allows them to gain technical knowledge. Their journey of discovery enables them to explore amazing things like the energy jungle in technology laboratories, design studios, wind tunnels or on a test track. A wide range of games and videos explain the topics and there are many different types of challenges including creative tasks, memory games, combination and reaction exercises and quiz questions. Reaching logical conclusions is as important as having fun working in groups and the ability to work in a team.
