FonoMix "Learn to read 1" ‐ the first start for learning to read

The app FonoMix "Learn to read 1" ‐ based on literacy learning according to FonoMix Munmetoden that has strong foundation in current research in language development and reading and has shown very positive results in scientific studies. The method was first published in 2006.

The app teaches the student in a simple and understandable way to use the speech sounds/mouths o s l a r m (six sounds). The app shows that words are made up of "blocks" /sounds and gives the child a way both to make words ("write") and to "read" words ‐ using the six sounds/mouths (a total of 15 words).

Audience: Age 4‐5 in preschool or at home, and also students of all ages who need sound training and the very first foundation in learning to read (special‐ and also adult education).

The app FonoMix "Learn to read 1":

• is entertaining and fun thanks to the many senses that are activated
• have a structured, multi‐sensory approach
• has only 6 sounds (o s l a r m) so that everyone will succeed to automate these sounds and quickly understand the reading code
• shows the language sounds (phonemes) with images of mouths to make sounds visible and thus easier to understand, remember, and produce
• consolidates the sounds in memory by names that tell the student how the sound is made in the mouth, for example Tandväsaren (s) and these names are used parallel with the sound
• functionally independent but there are great benefits if the student also can experiment with FonoMix concrete prereading‐set "Playing with Speech Sounds" ("Leka med Pratljud")
• is suitable for students with different language backgrounds other than Swedish (Sva, Sfi) who will start to learn to read
