WakeCup Coffee
What is it about?
WakeCup Coffee was established in 2018 to promote and distribute premium organic Nepali coffee Beans only. WakeCup Coffee is one of the first coffee shop brands under Malla Group of companies located at Biratnagar. We have envisioned to provide the best organic Nepali coffee experiences from Eastern Nepal to the world. We are the first coffee shop that not only uses organic Nepali beans but also help our valued customers to understand more about coffee and its menus. We prefer to make a premium coffee experience for all our customers. Why Nepali Beans? In the same year of our establishment, Nepali coffee received 90 points on a scale of 50- 100 in a blind assessment coffee review by California based trade magazine. It has been announced as the world’s best ‘Specialty coffee’ because of its unique profile. Specialty coffee is defined as a coffee that has no defects and has a distinctive flavor in the cup. The magazine, in its first-ever blind assessment, suggested that the flavor of Nepali coffee to be considered as savory-sweet in structure with gentle acidity; crisp, satiny mouthfeel. Nepal has areas where the terrain and climate are suitable for coffee, especially for Arabica plants. Arabica is the most demanded and expensive coffee species in the world. A term that refers to the highest quality green beans roasted by true craftspeople. We can say that we are literally sitting on ‘Brown Gold’ mines. Therefore, demand for Nepali coffee is being incredibly popular in the international market at present. Our journey of seed to your cup at WakeCup Our obsession to achieve coffee excellency starts right from finding and plantation of the right species of Arabica seed at different Himalayan regions of Nepal, normally at an altitude of 800m to 1200m (2500ft - 4000ft) above the sea level. At present, we have planted 5000 Arabica coffee plants at our own farm at Deumaya Nagarpalika, Ilam district. This is the region from where we receive most of the beans. Apart from that, we provide all the necessary technical assistance to farmer and their family who grow coffee and harvest it in the nearby villages. To support and raise their family income we not only buy the green beans or coffee cherries in advance but also give them a bonus from every sale that we make. Know your coffee The base of all our coffee menu is espresso. So to understand the coffee that is served on your table, it is necessary to understand the art of pulling espresso. First thing first, when it comes to quality coffee oxygen is its biggest enemy. Small things matter in quality! At WakeCup, we never prefer to keep our on-demand grinder’s hopper full of beans unless it is too busy. As soon as we open the coffee beans packet, we store the beans in an airtight jar so that all the goodness of our beans get well preserved, without losing even the slightest percentage of its quality, that otherwise could get lost due to oxygen. We prefer using an on-demand grinder so that we grind beans only when you ask for any coffee beverage. This will ensure the best quality of espresso on your cup.
