Kuala Lumpur is excited to be the host of World Energy Cities Partnership Annual General Meeting (WECP AGM) for 2018. With the theme Powering Collaboration for a Sustainable Future, many activities are lined up to showcase Kuala Lumpur’s potential to be the energy hub for ASEAN and discussion emphasizing on the importance of collaboration between renewable and non-renewable sources of energy in powering a sustainable future.
WECP AGM 2018 in Kuala Lumpur is where mayors, city officials, urban stakeholders and business delegates meet to exchange ideas and opinions, gain new insights on energy updates and to see the trend of future energy. Despite the majority of the planet’s electricity needs will still be fueled by coal and natural gas in the near future, there is also strong growth in nonhdyro renewables such as wind, solar and geothermal as an alternative energy towards a cleaner, more reliable and safer energy.
Kuala Lumpur will introduce to delegates about low carbon initiatives, towards achieving 70 by 30. 70 by 30 refers to the realization of 70% carbon emission intensity reduction by Gross Domestic Product by 2030, the ultimate goal in line with Kuala Lumpur’s vision of World Class Sustainable City 2030 and Kuala Lumpur’s commitment in contributing to national and global greenhouse gases emission mitigation.
Partnering with International GreenTech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM), WECP AGM delegates will get a chance to hear perspective from city mayors and experts on two compelling topics among urban stake holders which are initiatives done towards achieving smart city and sustainable development goal (SDG). WECP AGM delegates will be further informed on policies and way forward of energy in Malaysia in Energy Ministers Industry Dialogue.

Think City plays a part to strengthen the identity of Malaysian cities through arts, culture and heritage.
