What is it about?

The concept of the app is fairly simple. User goes into a mall, visits several stores and keeps scanning the barcodes of the products he/she likes. It is different from the wish-lists available at the sites of various shopping chains like Macy’s & others. It is different as WhatMy is designed to create a list across stores and (in most cases) by simply scanning a barcode. The creation of the product list/ wishlist will be either through the scanning of the barcodes or taking pictures and entering the data manually.

App Store Description

The concept of the app is fairly simple. User goes into a mall, visits several stores and keeps scanning the barcodes of the products he/she likes. It is different from the wish-lists available at the sites of various shopping chains like Macy’s & others. It is different as WhatMy is designed to create a list across stores and (in most cases) by simply scanning a barcode. The creation of the product list/ wishlist will be either through the scanning of the barcodes or taking pictures and entering the data manually.

User can view the product details which includes the brand, short description, Barcode details, price size and emotions. The list is then shared with the members in the contact list. The spouse now has a registry of items that might be a suitable gift along with the name of the store, location, item price etc and can gift them whenever he/she wants to.

The system caters to multiple wish lists – from the publishing as well as viewing perspective. The person creating the list could split the items across multiple lists and share with different people.
And the person who is shopping for gifts will be able to view lists consolidated across people. Imagine going Holiday Shopping with WhatMy and having the wishlist from the entire family on the app – along with where they saw it, how much they like it, how much does the gift cost and where to go so as to get most gifts in one go. One could walk into a mall and view gifts that are available in that mall. Tag them as gifted when purchased.

A future iteration could see AI & Machine Learning implementation as in suggesting gifts that are based on the items in the wishlist (There will always be cases where the item in the wishlist is sold out or was a one-off item).
