What is a word family? Word families are groups of words that have a common feature or pattern. For example, the words cat, hat, sat, and mat all end with “at”.

What is a word family? Word families are groups of words that have a common feature or pattern. For example, the words cat, hat, sat, and mat all end with “at”.
With over 400 words, Word Family Recognition is a great way for your child to learn about word families.
They can play in three modes:
Family – Your child can find words by the word family they end with. They will be given 4 words and asked to pick the correct one based on the word family it ends with. Example: dog, cat, tap, sad. Find the word that ends with "at".
Words – Your child can find find the correct word from four words in the same word family. Example: cat, sat, mat, rat. Find "cat".
Practice - This mode is great for a child just beginning to learn about word families. They can practice either Family or Words and pick which list (A, E, I, O, U) they would like to learn. If they pick the wrong answer it will help them learn the correct one.
