Wordbook - Grab Words Anytime

Building vocabulary is a tough thing to do, especially in the era of digital online search engines and vase amounts of entertainment. When the definition of words can be fetched by just a few clicks or even by speaking to your phone, when wrong spelling becomes not crucial since it is auto-correction everywhere, it’s only natural that our brain tends not to memorize it. But I can fell the cost to such convenience when we are trying to write down ideas or express feelings in a more precise manner. What’s the word I should use? How to spell it or pronounce it correctly? A strong vocabulary is crucial for master language and understands valued information.

I’ve been using many tools and Apps to help with vocabulary building. But I have to say there are so many improvements, but very few have been done. So I took the time to build this App, to help myself, and at the same time, I hope it can help other fellows too.

- Grab words anytime

I used to write down all the words I did not fully understand to my notebook. Not only copy each word is breaking my reading experience, and also it’s easy to lose after a while. In WordBook, I can quickly grab any words I’m reading, and “share” it to my Wordbook, like sharing a text to a close friend. Wordbook will put it into a list and remind you to review them until you can fully master those words.

- Sync across devices via iCloud

With the lovely feature and service of iCloud, your personal list of words in Wordbook will be able to sync across all iOS, macOS, and watchOS devices. It means when you add words from the iPad and work them on iPhone or vice verse.

- Quick Revise with Apple Watch App

An Apple Watch App also come alone with Wordbook. If you allow Wordbook to send you reminder notification, you can keep working on your words on your watch, anywhere, anytime at your convenience.

- A dictionary at the same time

Thanks to the work from WordNet by Princeton. Wordbook is also a dictionary. You can look up new words you see elsewhere and put it into your Wordbook at any time.

- Spacing memorize

The most effective way that technology can bring to you on memorizing things is spacing memorization. It means to show you the words repeatedly in the first few hours, then the next day, subsequently after several days to enforce the memory. Wordbook will do that automatically. Not only that, when you give feedback under each time you see a word in the App: fully, kind of, or not remembering, Wordbook will adjust how and when the word will show to you later next time. A perfect pace designed just for you until you can get a full grip.

- Master the language, not only for the test prep

The purpose of Wordbook is to help to understand and writing on a deeper level than just prep tests. The real value of a language is getting to the knowledge it conveys, which will be the most rewarding and beneficial to a person besides passing a test. Also, when you think the definition is not enough to make you understand, just tap on the “show related articles” button to check out real word usage, to help you fully understand the word.
