We take hardening seriously. Private cryptographic keys are stored using a case-hardened, tamper-resistant FIPS 140-2 Level 3 certified Hardware Security Module (HSM), which when combined with our solution architecture and offsite backups, delivers the highest level of physical and logical protection to the storage and processing of highly sensitive information. From the edge to the core, cryptographic keys are never exposed outside our HSM in clear form, offering a level of hardening unavailable from software alternatives.

We have implemented redundancy for every critical function of The Vault, with no single points of failure. The Vault's back-end systems are based in a highly secure facility, with redundant servers and hardware security modules to keep all of our data safe from the outside world. Furthermore, we maintain secondary backups which are fully encrypted and kept offsite. The customizable Deadman Switch (coming soon) gives our users peace of mind knowing that their assets are dispersed to nominated blockchain addresses in the event that they do not access their wallet for a pre-defined period of time.
