App Store Description

Looking for a better way to receive and manage voice messages on your iPhone? With 'Yap Voicemail' you have the power to read, search and forward your voicemails. All of this is possible thanks to Yap’s speech recognition platform. It's the same technology that powers voicemail-to-text services offered by wireless carriers.

NOTE: TO SWITCH BACK TO YOUR ORIGINAL VOICEMAIL SERVICE, YOU MUST DIAL ##004# (AT&T USERS) OR *73 (VERIZON USERS) FROM YOUR IPHONE.

FOR BEST ACCURACY:

(1) In your personal greeting, we recommend asking callers to speak clearly so that their messages are accurately converted into text. For example, “Please speak clearly so that your message can be accurately be converted into text.”

(2) Yap Voicemail is designed to convert actual voicemail messages into text. It is not intended for transcribing passages read from a book, nursery rhymes or other messages such as "testing 1-2-3" which are not what you would normally expect to hear in a voicemail message.

TIPS:

(1) Receive your voicemails in your email inbox. Go to ‘Settings’ then 'Email Delivery' to set that up.

(2) Record a personal greeting by selecting 'Settings' then 'Greeting'.

(3) If your audio volume sounds low, try increasing the media playback volume on your iPhone.

REVIEWS:

Wireless Week: "I spent some time with Yap Voicemail, which is free at the iTunes App Store, and found the results to be a refreshing turn from the garbled transcriptions offered up by Google Voice. Talking from my work phone, I intentionally tried to trip up Yap with long pauses and relatively complex words (especially for speech-to-text software), but to no avail. Yap managed to correctly transcribe words like Zimbabwe, encyclopedia and dictionary."

AppAdvice: "I tried this service three times just to see if my entire message was converted to text properly. In each case, it was. Word for word, the voicemail message was correct."
