Jailbreak for 3G iPhone Now Available!

The iPhone Dev Team has posted an announcement on their blog marking the release of PwnageTool 2.0. This iteration of software will jailbreak and unlock 1st generation iPhones and jailbreak 3G and iPod Touch models. You can download it through Big Boss mirror site - Download PwnageTool 2.0 And here's a great walk-through from Big Boss as well - "Pwnage 2.0 Guide" As of now PwnageTool 2.0 is a MAC only version (Windows is in the works), won't unlock 3G iPhones (also in the works), and Installer has not yet been ported to 2.0 firmware (awaiting Installer 4.0). So, unless you're looking for SSH access on your 3G or unlocking your 1st gen iPhones, PwnageTool 2.0 won't be doing too much for you (other than bragging rights, of course). We only support the 2.0 firmwares. Update 2: It looks like there aren’t enough TCP ports on that server, so _BigBoss_ has generously offered to mirror it. Update 3: If you get Error 1600 from iTunes (or if you see in your log a failure to prepare x12220000_4_Recovery.ipsw), try: mkdir “~/Library/iTunes/Device Support” ; if that directory already exists, remove any files in it. Then re-run PwnageTool. Update 4: Here’s another mirror.
