Update: World's First Jailbroken 3G iPhone

July 15, 2008
In a follow up to yesterday's story, iDrama: The Race to Jailbreaking iPhone 2.0, the counter on geohot's site, presupposed to be a countdown to the launch of his jailbreaking tool for the iPhone 3G, expired at 9:00am PST. After 9am PST? The counter hit 0 and started going into the negatives... Meanwhile, over on the Dev Team side of town, they've released yet another video -- this one just 30 seconds long: "What you are seeing is the world’s first jailbroken iPhone 3G running our own software. I think you’ll agree that this was worth the wait."

Though they go on to say that they are not yet announcing a release, but are working "very hard" to wrap things up. Though not many applications have been ported over to 2.0 quite yet (and it remains to be seen how many will with the launch of the iPhone App Store), iPhone enthusiasts are still in a frenzy for a 2.0 jailbreak.
