New iPhone 2.0.2 Firmware Released
August 18, 2008
Ahh, another Apple firmware release -- another vague description that promises "bug fixes." Just two weeks after releasing 2.0.1, the latest release from Apple weighs in at nearly 250MB and can be had via iTunes.
While rumors fly about an impending software patch that promises to fix 3G-related connectivity issues, 2.0.2 probably isn't it. Most likely we'll see some improved functionality in the type-lag department, and hopefully a fix for the Springboard loading error that causes the eternal-Apple-logo-boot-cycle.
As a side-note, jailbreakers should probably be patient, especially after the 2.0.1 firmware debacle. Firmware 2.0.2 is currently unpwnable, so don't upgrade if you're looking to keep your jailbroken apps.
