A special scratch-resistant coating, also known as X2, is applied over the permanent color treatment for extra durability. However, aside from being a little pricey, the pimping process entails shipping your 3G to ColorWare in Minnesota for 2 weeks to undergo the process. It should also be noted that doing such will void your Apple warranty.
Still, that didn't stop us from toying with the personalization page to mock up our own would-be creation. While it might not be as cool as getting the real thing, the total savings of $230 will go a long way towards our AT&T bill.
