How To Gift An App This Holiday Season

November 29, 2008
If you love apps as much as we do then you'll want to give some away as gifts this holiday season... but what's the best way. Today I'm going to give you some simple and easy ways to gift that app to whoever you want. The first and most obvious way... give an iTunes gift card. You can purchase one of these cards pretty much anywhere. Of course you can get one on iTunes, at the App Store and one of the many Apple retail stores, but I've also found you can find them at your local supermarket. Second way... Go to iTunes and click on "Buy iTunes Gifts" in the right hand quick links column. There you will find a few different solutions for gifting apps. The first option given is to email an iTunes gift card, or even print one out yourself and hand it them in a card. iTunes gift cards come in $15, $25, $50 and $100 increments and can be found at all the above mentioned locations. If you want to give your kids the ability to buy directly from the App Store but don't want them having access to a credit card or account, just give them an allowance. The allowance allows iTunes to deposit money into their account on a monthly basis, granting them full access. For music TV shows and movies you can gift them individually but unfortunately you can't give apps directly or one by one. Our suggestion... just give a gift certificate and suggest the app that you wanted them to have in a card. Hopefully next year the gift it now option will be available for individual apps.
