Puzzlotto Winner To Receive $8,000 Prize

November 10, 2008
Puzzlotto, an app that only costs $4.99 to purchase, was well worth the price... especially to one puzzler. The app offered an unusual incentive to its players. Basically, Puzzlotto challenged their customers to try and solve the game as fast as possible, and who ever could do it first would receive a cash prize. Now, we're not talking a $20 gift card or anything, they were offering cold hard cash, and each day that it went unsolved an extra $1,000 was to be added to the prize total. Much like the name, the game was a lot like a lotto, except for instead of just buying a ticket and hoping for the best, you actually had to employ some skill to win this prize money. Depending on how hard the app was, those dollars could really start adding up, but David Lanham and Mike Lee, the creators of the unusual app, were smart enough to have the prize hit its cap at $30,000. However, before even coming close to the cap the puzzle was solved, and after only eight days much less. A man named Dave is the winner, and is set to receive a cool $8,000.
Dave H., from Portland, is our new Puzzllotto Champion! Once the independent judges are done verifying, Dave will receive the Champion's Trophy and $8,000 in prize money. Congratulations once again to Dave!
The app has now been deemed fundware, since 10 percent of the proceeds will be donated to Madagascar Fauna Group, to protect the habitats of animals in Madagascar. This app was interesting to say the least, and exciting if you were one of the many who were vying to solve the puzzle. Now that the prize has been won, many are left wondering what kind of "fundware" will be coming next.
