AT&T has given the most zealous iPhone fans another reason to be a little bitter. We all remember the launch of the much anticipated 3G - the early morning lines, the sluggish activation process. Those of us that left the store with a brand new iPhone 3G - yet to be activated - didn't begrudge Apple's iTunes servers for making what was supposed to be a seamless 15 minute process into an ordeal that lasted hours.
I was one of many that waited in line, only to wait in the store, only to have to go home with an iBrick and activate it myself. So, why is this bothering me now? Well, AT&T has started offering to ship fully activated iPhone 3G's to new customers in time for Christmas, along with free overnight shipping.
Now, I admit -- I was a little sour over this announcement, but does the several month head start I and other iPhone enthusiasts got make the sour grapes easier to swallow? Yes, but I still feel like the devout were punished for being a little too eager.
