The latest rumor to rattle
iPeople seems to be snowballing. Could it be? An iPhone nano to be unveiled at the upcoming
MacWorld Expo?
The
gossip mill is reluctant to give this canard much credence yet -- whispers of an itsy-bitsy iPhone made the
rounds last year.
It's hard to ignore some of these clues, though.
Hint #1 - "Even the Small Talk will be Big"
Let's start with the obvious. MacGeeks dream of MacWorld all year - waiting for Steve Jobs to dazzle them with the latest must have. Last years expo apprised us of the MacBook Air. MacWorld 2007 delivered the iPhone. What are we to make of this year's theme? Should we assume it has something to do with a 20 year old
programming language?
Hint #2 - Rumors overseas
iDealsChina is reporting production for the "NanoPhone" on December 20th. They predict a MacWorld unveiling and a new iPod Shuffle.
Hint #3 - Peculiar patent?
News of a pending patent from Apple only encourages speculation: a "dual-sided trackpad device" could give way to a "clamshell" or smaller version of the iPhone 3G.
Hint #4 Drop down for device selection
Apple seems to have certainly left room for more handheld devices. As one blogger
noted, the App Store has a drop down field for "Device Compatibility" which gives the option for iPhone, iPod Touch, and All.
It looks like this years buzz might amount to more than just myth, but who knows. All we can do - for now - is wait to find out. That's half the fun though, isn't it?
