Tonight I was pleased to learn that I am not the only one that is, to say the least, not impressed with MobileMe. One blogger reports that
Steve Jobs didn't care much for it.
iPhone owner Rob Greene's story makes me want to take my MobileMe aside and apologize for being so hard on it.
Greene was robbed (no pun intended) for his iPhone earlier this month and did something we all can relate to. He dipped into his piggy bank and bought another one that same day, he was "addicted" and couldn't live without it. I couldn't either.
As he was syncing his new device with his
MobileMe account, he says he noticed some new names in his contact list. The thief was actually adding names to his address book and they were being added to Greene's MobileMe contact list - which was being added to Greene's new iPhone.
Then, Greene says, "I called the contacts, got the thief's information, and called the police. By the end of the night, I was the proud owner of TWO iPhones."
Greene went on to sell the recovered iPhone on, what else,
ebay. I tip my hat to Rob Greene for doing us iPhone addicts proud with his clever detective work, and for doing a little to atone for MobileMe's mediocrity.
