Stevenote Missing From MacWorld Expo 2009

December 18, 2008
As usual, rumors have surrounded the upcoming MacWorld Expo 2009. Unfortunately Apple announcing that this will be their last MacWorld Expo is not a rumor. Apple reasons that they are "reaching more people in more ways than ever before, so like many companies, trade shows have become a very minor part of how Apple reaches its customers." MacWorld Expo has been the place for Apple announcements. The following is a list of Apple products unveiled at the annual Expo. 1998: iMac and the PowerBook G3 1999: iBook, QuickTime TV, and Airport 2000: Power Mac G4 Cube 2001: iTunes and the PowerBook G4 2002: iMac G4 2003: Safari, Airport Extreme, 12 and 17-inch PowerBooks 2004: updated iMac with PowerPC G5 processor 2005: Mac Mini 2006: Intel Core Duo iMacs 2007: iPhone, Apple TV 2008: MacBook Air, Time Capsule, iPod Touch The worst part of Apple's announcement yesterday is that the company's last MacWorld appearance will be lacking the iconic Stevenote. Steve Jobs' keynote speech, dubbed the Stevenote, has become evocative of new Apple toys. Apple announced that Phillip Schiller, senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, will deliver the final keynote speech.
