Change is inevitable, even for the stoic, classy face of Macworld. Appleinsider claims they have a credible source that Apple has reserved space at CES 2010. ‘What does this mean?’, you might be asking. It means that Apple is jumping into uncharted waters to release news of their new products and ideas. While most people would say that Apple is on its way to blowing their albeit huge competition out of the water, there are still die-hard Microsoft fans out there. However, these people are finding it harder than ever to deny the awesomeness of Apple’s innovative influence on the market.
No specifics on how much product will be seen at CES 2010, or if this will be an ongoing occurrence. Will they have a large show-all booth or a reserved selection for consumers to peruse over? What will happen to Macworld if the Apple booth shows up at the CES conference instead? It will be an even harder blow then just losing them in the first place.
Macworld is known for having cutting-edge Apple technology that is practically ready for consumer use. Microsoft at CES is known for releasing information about what consumers can expect in the coming year. After record sales with the iPhone, Apple is feeling the heat to deliver bigger and better products from its shareholders. This could be why they are considering changing up their routine – CES 2010 instead of Macworld. CES would benefit greatly from having an Apple exhibit.
This event takes place in Las Vegas (Macworld is held in San Francisco), and is generally dominated by Microsoft, including the keynote speaker. Their attendance has been lacking for the past few years. Between the flopping Microsoft products and the iPhone craze, I think that Apple would be a very busy station at the expo. Will Apple be able to keep up with itself and deliver product and profit that exceeds historical records again and again? We’ll have to wait to see.
One thing we know for sure – Apple likes a challenge. As they break out of their ‘computer hardware company’ box and into the full spectrum of consumer electronics, they hope to become much stronger than their competition. I think that this is exactly what they want to demonstrate at CES. Right now apple is a big fish in a small pond, but what will happen when they jump into the ocean of CES?
