The German software company - owned by eBay - Skype will bring their own program to the App Store.
Skype is a
VoIP that allows you to make calls to other Skype users, landlines, and mobile phones. It also allows instant messaging, file transfer and video conferencing.
The billion dollar company has been busy - releasing a new version of their software for Mac, a program for Google's Android phone, and a soon to be released new Windows version. Today at the International Consumer Electronics Show Skype's chief operating officer, Scott Durschlag, said engineers are still working on Skype's iPhone app and the amount of battery it drains.
Durschlag was very optimistic about the company's future in face of economic woes,
saying, "My biggest concern, to be honest with you, is an abundance of opportunities. The take-up of Skype is accelerating."
There are already several apps that connect you with Skype in the Store;
IM+ for Skype, Nimbuzz, Truphone,fring,and more. But this will be the first straight from Skype, which means it will be good.
Just don't use Skype in Germany. As the
German Pirate Party found out, the KGB is listening.
