Apple Releases iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 2

March 31, 2009

Apple has just released the second version of the iPhone 3.0 beta software which will immediately give developers the ability to start building applications that rely on push notifications, among a couple other new items. AppleInsider is reporting that developers were given detailed information on how to build in-app purchasing into their existing or new applications as well.  This information will reportedly appear in the App Store Kit reference guide. Apple also informed developers of their plans to open the live testing service to support the new features during the beta test program, but it will only be limited to a select few developers to begin with.  More developers will be allowed to utilize the service as time passes. There are probably plenty more interesting tidbits hidden inside beta 2, but we will just have to wait for them to start surfacing.  In the meantime, developers can head over to developer.apple.com to begin downloading the latest build.
