iPhone Bluetooth Headset Discontinued

March 23, 2009

Apple's Bluetooth Headset has been hastily discontinued on their website, indicating a possible update alongside the new iPhone hardware, or it could be that Apple simply didn't see a need for it any longer with all of the other third-party Bluetooth headset offerings. The discontinuation was spotted over the weekend by a few AppleInsider readers.  The product listing page clearly displays "Discontinued" where the estimated shipping time would normally be located.  The Bluetooth Headset can currently still be added to the shopping cart, but we are unsure at this point what happens when a customer attempts to check out. The Apple Bluetooth Headset has always been a mixed bag when it comes to user reviews which could explain its sudden discontinuation.  The device initially launched at $129 and later dropped in price to $99.  At that price, it is still at the upper end of the spectrum.  Most customers have been delighted with the initial sound quality, but have stated that it has poor battery life, poor range, and the sound quality supposedly degrades over time.
