WWDC 2009 Receives Two Possible Dates

March 7, 2009
The 2009 World Wide Developers Conference is shaping up to be an important one. Over the last two months we have seen reports of new App Store features, new iPhone software and even new iPhone hardware, all supposedly waiting to be released at this year's WWDC. The question is, when will the event take place? According to AppleInsider, Apple has scheduled two "corporate meetings" at the Moscone Center, the location that normally hosts these events. It's a fairly common practice for Apple to use anonymous or vague listings in an attempt to mask any possible event dates. The two possible dates are May 16-22 and June 6-12. The WWDC historically has taken place most often in the month of June, but Apple has pushed the date back as far as August in the past. Neither date would work with Steve Jobs' scheduled return to Apple. It was initially planned that Jobs would return at the end of June, and nothing since has indicated otherwise. It would be a pleasant surprise to have Jobs be the one announcing a new iPhone though. I don't know about you folks, but I don't think I can wait much longer. I will cast my vote for May 16th. Don't forget, we still have the rumored March 24th event date to watch for.
