Apple Preparing Two Devices For Verizon Wireless?

April 28, 2009
verizon-iphone Just yesterday we reported that Apple was in talks to bring the iPhone to Verizon sometime next year and just 24 hours later we've now got a new rumor hitting the net that's sure to get the masses talking. BusinessWeek reports that Apple and Verizon Wireless are in talks to develop not one but two iPhone-like handhelds that allegedly could be unveiled as soon as this year. The first device being talked about is being described as a less powerful version of the current iPhone, possibly an iPhone nano. The second device is a bit more interesting in that it's not a cell phone but a "Media Pad" that more or less looks to be a cross between an iPod touch and a tablet device. The article goes on to cite "two people familiar with the matter" as saying that Apple has already created prototypes of these devices. While these definately sound like exciting ideas, it's important to remember that this is all nothing more than rumor at this point. Nevertheless, given the pace at which Apple and Verizon information has been sprouting up recently, you've got to believe that at a minimum, there is some talking going on behind closed doors.
