Assassin's Creed - Altair's Chronicles Now Available
April 23, 2009
The much anticipated prequel to Assassin's Creed is finally available for the iPhone. Assassin's Creed - Altair's Chronicles puts you in control of the master assassin Altair on a quest to steal "The Chalice" from the Templars before it gets into the wrong hands.
Assassin's Creed - Altair's Chronicles was originally released for the Nintendo DS, but has now made its way to the iPhone. The iPhone version is basically a graphically enhanced port of the DS title of the same name, and of course the controls have been adapted as well. The game features a good mix of stealth tactics, chaotic action, and riddle-solving exploration. The game's combat system has been compared to Gameloft's other action title, Hero of Sparta.
Assassin's Creed also features skill-based mini-games and dramatic 3D cutscenes so you are able to get the full effect of Altair's story. One of the major knocks on the DS version was the length of the game and since this is a direct port, the iPhone version should also clock in somewhere around three hours of total gameplay. The big difference, however, is that the DS version was priced at $29.99, while the iPhone version is a full $20 cheaper at $9.99. Some of the savings can be attributed to the fact that the iPhone version is a port, but you must also take into consideration that the iPhone version is digitally distributed, so there is no need for expensive packaging or retail space.
Assassin's Creed - Altair's Chronicles is now available at the App Store for $9.99. Are any of you Altair fans going to be picking this one up today?
