We all knew Firemint had sold tons of copies of Flight Control through the App Store -- being that it was at the top position of the paid applications list for what seemed like an eternity -- but the question was, just how many copies did they sell?  Firemint decided that today was the day they would let us in on that important information, and all that can be said is... wow! Flight Control had held the top position on the paid applications list at the U.S. App Store from March, 24th through April 25th.  During that period they were able to sell 587,485 copies worldwide of the popular game, but that is just for the time it was at the number one spot.  Firemint estimates that Flight Control has sold over 700,000 copies to date. On its best day, Flight Control had sold over 35,000 copies worldwide.  In comparison, Flight Control was able to sell 19,164 copies in the U.S. on its best day. flightcontrol_country The game launched in early March at the price of $.99 and it hasn't changed in price since.  After a little rough calculation, that means that during its lifetime, Flight Control has made Firemint about $485,000 after Apple takes its cut.  Not too shabby for under two months at the App Store. The biggest contributor to the success of Flight Control was the U.S. App Store with 57 percent of the total sales, followed by Great Britain at 17 percent, and Germany and Canada at 4 percent. With the brand new Flight Control 1.1 update just being released, Firemint has a solid chance at adding a ton more sales to those already gigantic numbers. If you haven't checked out Flight Control by now, it's about time.  Flight Control is available at its introductory price of $.99.
