Former Sony Employee Says iPhone SDK Better Than PSP's
April 20, 2009
Sebastien Rubens is a former Sony employee who used to call SCEE home. He left that position to start his own gaming company Anozor, who has just published their first title for the Playstation Network titled No Gravity. Since he no longer is employed directly by Sony, he has decided to speak out to Edge about the PSP's SDK and overall third-party support, saying it lags behind the iPhone's.
Rubens stated that the Sony needs to work on improving their SDK, going as far as saying the iPhone's is better:
“The second step is to have a better SDK – iPhone’s is better. You could make things a lot easier to use, and I come from the software engineering side,” says ReubensHe also was quoted saying Sony's submission process is "slow to move." There have been numerous published articles stating that both Nintendo and Sony have a reason to be concerned, with Apple's iPhone gaining huge momentum in the mobile gaming department, but this situation is unique since Rubens is a former employee of Sony. It's great to hear that the iPhone's SDK is better than the PSP's, at least from an iPhone fanboy's standpoint, but it is extremely surprising to hear that that Sony's submission process is slow. Just to be clear, he didn't say that the submission process was slow compared to Apple's, he simply said it was slow, so you can take that however you wish.
