iBrawl Offers 2D Fighting Mayhem
April 13, 2009
Have you ever felt like beating the snot out of a wealthy corporate CEO? Well, now you can with iBrawl by Icarus Interactive.
iBrawl is a 2D fighting game that offers a compelling single and multiplayer experience. You are able to battle against the enemy AI in campaign mode to unlock more characters, or take on as many opponents as you can without losing in endless mode. The multiplayer option allows two players to fight against one another on the same device, offering competitive head-to-head action. Mark Fleig, part of the Icarus Interactive team, has said they plan on implementing a Bluetooth multiplayer option when it is available in June as part of the iPhone OS 3.0 release.
The game allows you to utilize some interesting fighting techniques as well. You can jab, punch, or dodge by tapping and holding, or you can simply tap an action to fake out your opponent. iBrawl also contains an "approval system" that adds another element to the gameplay. A weaker opponent may have a chance at defeating a stronger opponent by utilizing the public opinion meter. Get the crowd on your side by unleashing combos and watch as they throw things at your opponent, scoring you precious bonus points.
Aside from all of that, Icarus Interactive feels they have built a highly intelligent AI. The AI supposedly is able to observe and react to an opponents actions. It can play defensively or aggressively, forcing you to make quick decisions instead of mindless button tapping.
Future features may include a "build a fighter" campaign along with new characters and moves to unlock.
iBrawl is available at the App Store for the introductory price of $.99. iBrawl will return to its usual price of $2.99 in the coming weeks.
