Microsoft To Launch iPhone Rival On Verizon's Network?
April 28, 2009
To add even more confusion to the already confusing world of iPhone related rumors, the Wall Street Journal is now reporting that Microsoft is in talks with Verizon to launch an iPhone killer on their network in 2010. This report comes only one day after BusinessWeek reported that Apple was in talks with Verizon to bring two devices to their network, and only two days after USA Today reported Apple would be launching an iPhone on Verizon's network in 2010.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Microsoft and Verizon are only discussing the possible terms of the deal. They say Microsoft is currently working on a new touch-screen device code-named "Pink," and that even though they will be involved in the design process, a third-party is expected to actually build it. The project is said to use Microsoft's existing Windows Mobile operating system, but it will have added features that mirror Apple's software.
No further details are available at this point.
It seems as if the iPhone rumors have officially gotten out of hand. What's your take on the situation?
